The SFNM CoMission Club was launched to give individuals and groups the opportunity to invest in the commissioning of a new piece of music by a major American composer. The first work, Sea Tropes by Ingram Marshall, was premiered by SFNM in October, 2007. The second work, by Missy Mazzoli was "Death Valley Junction," premiered in June, 2010.
Membership is national, with participants in the first commission coming from several states."SFNM may premiere these works locally," explains John Kennedy, "but they have a life beyond Santa Fe, and our impact reaches the national and international scale."
Through the CoMission Club, individuals and groups can "invest"
towards the commissioning of a new piece of music by a major American
composer. Memberships start at $100, with opportunities
to attend rehearsals, meet the composer, and play a role in assigning
the commission scaled in with membership levels.
